Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about JustChill Live — from how it works to privacy, safety, and technical requirements. Can't find what you're looking for? Contact our support team.
Is JustChill Live free to use?
Yes, JustChill Live is completely free to use. There are no subscriptions, premium tiers, or hidden fees of any kind. You can start a video chat with a stranger anywhere in the world at no cost. We keep the platform free by displaying advertisements, which allows us to continue developing and maintaining the service.
Do I need to create an account or register?
No registration is required. Simply enter your first name on the home page, click the Start button, and you will be connected with another user almost immediately. We deliberately designed the platform to be barrier-free so anyone can jump in and start a conversation in seconds.
How does JustChill Live match me with other users?
Our matching system connects you with a randomly selected available user from anywhere in the world. The process is completely random — we do not filter matches by gender, location, or any other preference unless you specify one in your name. When you click Skip, you are instantly disconnected from the current partner and placed back in the matching queue.
Can I choose who I want to talk to?
JustChill Live is a random matching platform, so you cannot choose a specific person to connect with. The randomness is a core part of the experience — it is what makes each conversation unique and surprising. You can always press Skip to move to a new connection if the current match is not a good fit.
How many people use JustChill Live?
JustChill Live has thousands of active users connecting at any given time from countries around the world. Our user base spans Europe, North America, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and beyond. The more users online simultaneously, the faster your matching will be.
What languages are supported?
JustChill Live itself is available in English. However, there are no restrictions on what language you and your chat partner use during a conversation — you can communicate in any language you and your partner are comfortable with.
Are my video conversations recorded?
No. JustChill Live does not record, store, monitor, or archive any video, audio, or text messages exchanged during sessions. Your conversations are private. However, be aware that your chat partner could use third-party software to record their screen. We always recommend treating anything you do on camera as if it could be seen by others.
What information does JustChill Live collect about me?
We collect minimal information. We do not require an email address, phone number, or any personally identifiable information to use the service. Basic anonymous usage data (such as session counts and connection quality metrics) may be collected to help us improve the platform. We do not sell user data to third parties. See our full Privacy Policy for complete details.
Is JustChill Live safe to use?
JustChill Live uses WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication), which creates an encrypted, peer-to-peer video connection between you and your partner. This means your video and audio are transmitted directly and securely — they do not pass through or get stored on our servers. However, no platform can guarantee the behaviour of other users. Always follow our Safety Guide and trust your instincts.
What should I do if someone is behaving inappropriately?
Click Skip immediately to end the current session and get matched with someone new. Then visit our Contact page to file a report detailing what happened. Include the approximate time and a description of the incident. Our moderation team reviews all reports. Repeat offenders are blocked from the platform. Your reports make JustChill Live safer for everyone.
Can other users find out where I live?
JustChill Live never shares your location or IP address with other users. However, be careful not to reveal your location verbally or through visible clues in your background (such as landmarks visible through a window, or a local sports team jersey). Read our Safety Guide for more tips on keeping your location private.
Is JustChill Live appropriate for children?
No. JustChill Live is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. Because the platform connects users with random strangers, it is not suitable for minors. Parents and guardians should use parental control software and open discussions about online safety to prevent underage access to random video chat platforms.
What browser do I need to use JustChill Live?
JustChill Live works best on modern browsers that support WebRTC. We recommend the latest version of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge. Safari on macOS and iOS also supports WebRTC. Internet Explorer is not supported. For the best experience, keep your browser updated to the latest version.
Do I need to download any software or app?
No downloads are needed. JustChill Live runs entirely in your web browser. Simply visit the website, enter your name, and start chatting. Your camera and microphone are accessed directly through the browser using standard web APIs — no plugins or third-party software required.
Does JustChill Live work on mobile phones and tablets?
Yes. JustChill Live is fully mobile-responsive and works on smartphones and tablets running iOS or Android. Use Google Chrome on Android or Safari on iOS for the best experience. On mobile, the interface adapts to a full-screen layout with a picture-in-picture view and a bottom-sheet chat drawer for comfortable use with one hand.
Why is my camera or microphone not working?
First, make sure you have granted the browser permission to access your camera and microphone. When you visit the video page, your browser will show a permission prompt — click Allow. If you previously denied permission, go to your browser settings, find the permissions for JustChill Live, and change them to Allow. Also check that no other application is currently using your camera, as browsers cannot share camera access between applications.
What internet connection speed do I need?
For a smooth video chat experience, we recommend a minimum upload and download speed of 1 Mbps. A speed of 3–5 Mbps or more will provide high-quality video. You can test your connection speed at speedtest.net. If your video is blurry or choppy, try connecting to a faster Wi-Fi network or moving closer to your router.
Why am I having trouble connecting with a partner?
If you are stuck on the 'Searching...' screen for a long time, it may mean there are fewer users online at that moment in your region. Try at a different time of day when more users are active — evenings and weekends typically have the highest traffic. If the problem persists, try refreshing the page or clearing your browser cache.
How do I use the chat feature?
During a video session, a chat panel is available on the right side of the screen on desktop. You can type messages and press Enter or click the Send button to share them with your partner. On mobile, tap the Chat button in the control bar to open the chat drawer. Chat messages are only visible within the active session and are deleted when either party skips or leaves.
What is Split View mode?
Split View is a layout option inspired by tools like Google Meet. When you click the Split View button (the grid icon in the control bar), both your video and your partner's video are displayed side by side, each taking up half the screen. You can click the Focus button on either half to return to the standard full-screen layout. This is useful if you want to see both participants equally clearly.
Can I switch which video is shown in the main area?
Yes. In the standard Focus layout, you can swap the main video by clicking the Maximize button on the small sidebar video (desktop) or by tapping the picture-in-picture thumbnail in the corner (mobile). This lets you bring your own camera feed to the foreground — useful for checking your framing or lighting.
How do I mute my microphone or turn off my camera?
Use the Mic and Camera buttons in the control bar at the bottom of the screen. Clicking the Mic button toggles your audio mute on and off — a red icon indicates you are muted. The Camera button toggles your video feed on and off. Both can be toggled at any time during a session without disconnecting from your partner.
How do I skip to a new person?
Click the Next button in the control bar at the bottom of the screen. This will immediately disconnect you from the current partner and begin searching for a new match. There is no limit to how many times you can skip. You will typically be connected to a new partner within a few seconds.
Can I use JustChill Live without a camera?
While JustChill Live is primarily designed as a video chat platform, you can turn off your camera using the Camera button in the control bar after a session starts. Your partner will see a blank screen in place of your video. Note that you still need a camera connected to your device to initiate the session — it just does not need to remain active throughout.
